Dignity

"Are those seriously your choice of last words?"

I pressed my gun against the back of his head. The hairs on his neck bristled.

He caught my eye in the mirror and raised one eyebrow.

If I say anything else, then they won't be my last words any more, will they? Asshole.

Bastard.

I pulled the trigger and blew his brains out through his mouth.

'Nice One' Cy paid me off - rather contemptuously, I thought - with a wad of grubby notes that stank of dope.

"There's a 5k bonus if he said anything... interesting..." he offered.

The ring on his pinky was worth more than a man's life.

"Nada, boss. Just the usual whimper and fart before he pissed himself."

Another raised eyebrow. I would have to think about learning semaphore.

He didn't believe me. But you gotta allow a fellow his dignity.

Not a wasted word! This is so well considered, really atmospheric... the more verbose amongst us could learn a lot! *blushes*

Excellent. I've been struggling along with this sort of thing and it's so hard to create both plot and atmosphere within the limits. So I'm in awed admiration of anyone who can make it come together like this. And I liked the enigmatic ending.
