Healthy Hearts

Let me tell you first how wonderful you are.

Yes, of course, I know how to spread butter
on both sides of a slice, with the same knife
that I use to smarm jam, inch thick, today.

Yesterday was marmalade; tomorrow
will be peanut butter: but watch out for
those Marmite moments. As I grow older,
I lose my taste for sweet things at breakfast.

Your skin of vanilla yogurt and hair
the hues and textures of meusli may seem
bland, but at least do not make my teeth ache.

And your peaches are now akin to prunes;
yet what they lack in juicy, firm appeal
is compensated for by healthy hearts.

Good one wilky. Sweets are for kids.

I agree; prunes don't make me run like they used too! Nice one - I showed it to the wife; I'm in the spare room tonight....

Mmmmmmm, marmite on hot buttered toast!
Gentle and fair, warmth radiates from this :-)
all the best Lena
