I cannot help wondering why
the final day of Spring is famed
to be the Eve of Midsummer.
After the gyre of Gemini,
maybe seasons are in two minds
and weather maps are EEGs
that chart their schizoid tendency.
Luna leads me towards Leo,
through the element of water,
with promises of prominence
when July blooms in full brio.
