Say Nothing

from the ABC set 2008

If there is nothing to say; say nothing.
Even though silence screeches in your ears
And you look stupid, there is more meaning
In restraint than the babble of your peers.

Do not sieze the moment, for it is gone.
The energy you waste on chasing dreams
Is better spent on playing the long game
That is your life; forget those crazy schemes.

Learn a trade; get a job; marry for love.
The dull stuff is what it is all about;
No matter how boring, how much you crave
For more; no-one will hear your plaintive shout.

The meek have disinherited the earth,
Because folk like you stripped it of all worth.
