Thirty Days Of Julia: Day Twenty-Seven

from the ABC set Thirty Days Of Julia

At the front door, she turned up my collar
against the cold. Shrieked and ran down the hall
as a money spider tumbled and fell
from my lapel. I looped its thread around
my finger. Dangled it like a yo-yo.
Resisted the impulse to chase her round
the flat. There was real terror on her face
and it would have ended in tears. Kill it!
she urged, as its miniscule body swayed
from side to side like a hypnotist's watch.
I took it outside and sent it diving
down the stairwell, then returned for a kiss
goodbye. Don't come near me, she protested.
I don't trust you. Fuck it, I left unkissed.
