Thought Experiment

I open the box and the cat
is dead and gone to dust. Explain
that to my daughter, who wonders
where kitty went. No paradigm
or higher maths can compensate
for a logic trap less magic
than malice. That another cat,
identical but still alive,
purrs in the hands of a young girl
in the same space-time, but sideways,
is a mind-fuck too far. Report
it to the R.S.P.C.A.
and see how they collapse the odds.
