FRIEND ?....

'A friend in
Need
Is a friend indeed'

Friendship Blossoms with time
Like wine matures
With the passing of time

Trust
Companionship
Love
Honesty

Traits
Adhered
Makes
True friend

Friend
Is
Tested & trusted
Mostly
In times of despair

True Friend
Is always ready
At your beck and call
Exhibits honesty
Is like a doctor on call

Is rare for
True friend
Abandon
Friendship
And
Be selfish
Is ready
Avoid anguish

True friend
'Never' changes
In good or dire times

Let's see the flip side
Of a 'friend'

At many funerals
Saw the ugly side
Of Frienships

Doubt raised
About the saying
'a friend in need
is a friend indeed'

Some show
Posthumous friendship
Seems to surface at funerals

Appears to be deep
Men and women bitterly weep

Those in the know
Wonder what's happening
Ask
Where is grief coming?

When the person was alive
They say
Were bitter enemies

Their friendship
Was at its lowest depth
How come concern
Love or friendship surfaced
During death?

Introducing
Some difficulties
People in the know
Started wondering
About this sorrow
Doubting whether
Will continue tomorrow

Continued
Were they actually friends?
Started feeling guilty
They said
What's this mystery

When they shed tears
Appear to be
corocodile tears?

May be
The friendship was shifty?
May be , still
May be
They feel guilty
Others say
Is customary

They are exceptions
Otherwise
Won't have been hypocrites
Shedding crocodile tears

Let's be true to ourselves
Say and mean it
"A friend in need
Is a friend indeed"
Friendship if genuine
Should have depth
Exhibited in life and death

“Die Reinste Freude ist die Schadenfreude.”
- The purest joy is malicious joy.

I believe it must be some survival mechanism; or perhaps seemingly very inappropriate emotion, such as in extremes of joy are sobbing shameless tears.

Well done my brother you hit it on the nail.
