My name is Peter Gavin-Rowney, but you can call me Pete if you like… plenty of people do. I live in the fine city of Norwich, England.
In 1974 I migrated to Hollywood, California as part of my moderately successful career as Pete Gavin, drummer for British bands like Heads, Hands and Feet, Vinegar Joe, Bluesology, Jody Grind and others. There I toured repeatedly with Joe Cocker, did recording sessions, movie sound, rubbed shoulders with various showbiz luminaries from Malibu to Manhattan, and all but partied myself into oblivion by 1989. That’s when I quit the music biz, cleaned up my act, married a woman with four kids and moved to small-town Ohio.
In the interim I’ve been a sub-contractor to the US Postal Service, driven emergency vehicles, owner-operated two package delivery businesses in Ohio, Pennsylavania and West Virginia, and become a divorcee. Now semi-retired and with one failing balance organ I enjoy calling myself a writer.
As a rule I’m not too free with my opinions but will trot one out if pressed. These may take the form of the rantings of an ageing rock ‘n roller, my ‘spin’ on the-world-at-large, unfettered views on all matters metaphysical, or notions which hopefully won’t get me sued, jailed, shot at or eternally damned.
My credo draws much from the immortal words of the bard, (Red Smith… not that other guy): “Writing is easy: All you do is sit at the typewriter and open a vein”.
Right now, I have 2 stories in
one collection on the site.
