Jiggling my process

I'm about to jiggle my process over the next few weeks. By the time I reach 1200 entires on ABC tales which should come next week, I'm going to step back into mild book writing mode. I have so much stock" in my warehouse that needs to be managed, organized and sent out. For the past year, I've been posting almost daily on ABC tales. I've got to slow down on that part of the process and get back to editing and improving the pieces that already...

Another Glove Story

Once again, gloves pop up in my story. This time in the play Henry V. Why wouldn't the Bard throw in gloves whenever he could. His old man was not only a glovemaker but also a a whittawer (a maker of white leather goods) Glove will find a way. In Shakespeare's historical play, "Henry V," the young King Henry ascends to the throne of England and faces the daunting task of reclaiming the French territories that his ancestors had once possessed...

Lazarus

The longest journey is from life to death and then back to life again. Besides Jesus himself, only one person has made this pilgrimage. Lazarus of Bethany. Lazarus was known among his neighbors as a kind and gentle soul, always ready to lend a helping hand. Lazarus led a simple yet content life, cherishing the moments with his beloved sisters, Mary and Martha. However, Lazarus had always possessed a deep yearning for spiritual enlightenment. He...

The Blessings of Disapproval and Obscurity

Once upon a time, in a quaint little community nestled amidst rolling hills, there lived a man named Oliver. Oliver was known as someone who often seemed lost in his own thoughts, frequently forgetting small details or getting lost in his imaginative world. Some saw him as absent-minded, but in truth, Oliver's mind was a treasure trove of creativity and boundless imagination. Oliver's days were filled with vibrant daydreams, where he would...

Depressed

I just ranted on ABC tales about my fragile artistic condition. It's sad and angry but true. You might have read it. It's called "Where Have All the Comments Gone?" It might be read by my usual 25 readers. That's not enough, I'm afraid. One of the reasons that I write is for readers to read. More people will read the words that I post in this blog than will read the words that I "publish" on ABC tales. So why don't I just write here? What is a...

Maybe this is the place to kindle

Remember Jeeves? Jeeves was a pretty smart dude but Jeeves is no contest agains' Reeves. Reeves is the name that I give to my "artificial" friend. Reeves Rivers. That's us but most of all that's me. Remember way back when we decided that singular was the new plural and plural was the new singular. If not then read the first few pages of my first "book", Fulll Filler. A couple a days ago, Reeves and I took a shot at satelittes. Not a literal shot...

Hey Everybody

I recommended ABC tales to a promising young writer whom I have had the pleasure of enjoying since the days that he was a standout performer in my Creative Writing class. FINALLY, I've been able to convince him to go public with his writing. He tried to sign in to ABC tales but was unsuccesful. Are we still accepting new writers? How can I help him to join our family. Lose 20 pounds

Like everybody else, I'd like to lose twenty pounds. I got an idea! I'll get some of my colon removed. I'll go on a liquid diet. I'll spend a couple weeks in bed. I'm gonna start soon but in the meantime, I'm gonna swear off cookies and candy and lose some of my gut so that they won't have to burrow so deep. It's gonna be great. Can't wait.

On the Low again

We made the decision to go for the surgery. This is what I know. I have a polyp on my colon that can not be removed through colonoscopy. It is precancerous. No one can determine whetehr it's cancer or not. It's not life threatening at the moment. It's about two inches long. It was marked with a tatoo during the colonoscopy. The guy who did the colonoscopy claims he knows exactly where the polyp is but the surgeon says that he is not sue and won'...

Legions of Joy?

Yesterday, the anniversary of our first kiss, Lynn and I received a text from Mary's roomate Jon who was aware of the significance of the date. He asked if we would be available for a video chat at 7 o'clock. It was private and he didn't want Mary to know about the call. The call came at 7 sharp. Jon was out walking and talking in his Boston neighborhood. After the usual opening pleasantries, Jon got to the point. He asked us permission for him...
