Darkness Counts as Weather

In Rochester, New York on the banks of the big sea water, we have learned that Darkness counts as weather. We have been battered by windstorms, frozen by icestorms, puzzled by fog, quarantined by blizzard and struck by lightning. We always have something to complain about thanks to the weather so when we catch a respite, we go to a ballgame, drink our cream ale and enjoy the moment. We have jazz times, lilac moments, postponements and ongoing rain delays.
We're patient up to the breaking point but nothing is as patient as darkness.
It's the darkness that saps our souls. We get less sunshine than any city in America. We are one of the most dangerous cities in America due to the darkness, the drinking and the discontent. We are people of gray.
Kodak and Xerox lived, were wounded and died here as did Rod Serling.
Lilacs, jazz, darkness and danger is my hometown.
