She Loved Me Not

Sally drank a full bottle of whisky
Which made her feel fruity and frisky
She said she had time
If I had the rhyme
But the glint in her eye was too risky
Molly told me she was a spot welder
And I felt red-hot heat when I held her
She loved the bright arcs
And all of the sparks
But my gas-weld technique just repelled her
I stepped out with Cecile from Calais
Though it wasn’t a happy display
If I messed her about
She would give me a clout
And knock me from here to Marseille
I proposed to Louise from Caerphilly
But she said to me, “Don’t be silly
I can’t marry you
I’d never be true
‘Cos I still like a cuddle from Billy”
I met Rose on the banks of the Liffey
I’d been drinking and felt a bit iffy
I said, “Shall we dance
And have a romance?”
But my tango just went rather squiffy
