Wild Pair

He was a real prince of a guy, misunderstood yeah but occasionally appreciated especially at the Wild Pair. When Marketplace Mall first opened, it was overwhelmed with shoe stores. All of the shops were of the Endicott Johnson regulation type. The only store that was in any way exotic was the Wild Pair.
He considered women's shoes to be works of art. Whoever came up with the idea of the stiletto heel was a genius of design. He always paid attention to the ware that complimented the female foot. Some might say that he paid too much attention. He habitually walked with his eyes down, on the lookout for interesting shoes which by definition had to be worn by interesting women. If he saw a beautiful shoe, he began to scan upwards. Usually a beautiful shoe was accompanied by a well turned ankle, a shapely leg, a nice butt and then he would look at the face. Most of the women with the seductive shoes took good care of their faces and their hair.
He liked women and women liked him. He had a good job and a convertible. He had a cool apartment, always with the latest in water beds.
He also had a closet full of size 5 1/2 women's shoes of every variety and every size heel. All of them works of art. All of them in the original boxes. He didn't wear them. He didn't fondle them or sniff them. He bought them and stashed them, unopened, in his closet.
The girls at the Wild Pair liked him. He was polite. He was selective. He knew what was quality and what was trash and he appreciated both for what they were. Trendy trash cost less but would wear out sooner almost exactly as soon as the trend was over. Quality style would last longer and cost more, the durability always justified the cost. Sometimes he purchased, sometimes he passed but he was always paying gentle attention.
And now he was searching for Cinderella.
Cinderella had a size 5 and1/2 foot and she appreciated a beautiful shoe.
Meanwhile, Imogene was the talk of her favorite pedicure parlor. "You feet so small, like ours. You arch so curve. You toes so pretty. You nails so nice."
Imogene enjoyed her mani/pedis. She liked her feet but didn't love them. She thought they were too small. She wanted size sevens like everybody else so she could get the cool shoes that she wanted instead of 'baby shoes'. It was hard to find anything attractive in 5 and 1/2. If only her feet were 7s or 8s she could walk into any shoe store anywhere and get whatever she wanted.
She was popular with men but hadn't found that Prince Charming who would sweep her off her feet. She never even met a man who was into feet or feelings or sweeping. Most of the men she met had 4 basic questions 1) where's my beer? 2) when do I get paid? and 3) what's the score of the ball game and 4 eventually 4) do you wanna fuck or not?
Then one day she was walking through Marketplace wearing a pair of trashy spikes nearing the end of their trend when the cheap heel crumbled. Merle had noticed the accident and came over to her rescue. He retrieved her shoe and saw that the heel was broken. He said that he had a solution if she wanted to wait a few minutes. She was in no hurry. In order to maintain symmetry, she slipped out of her other shoe. The Prince made his way over to the Wild Pair and asked if someone could repair the broken shoe. The heel was indeed treatable but it would take about 20 minutes. Merle returned to the bench where his lady Imogene sat barefoot and beautifully pedicured as always.
They talked for awhile about movies, about art, about style, about shoes and even about her feet. He returned to the Wild Pair. The broken shoe had been treated and was now as good as new, which wasn't great. He returned to her with the shoe. He asked her if he might slip it on her foot. She didn't mind and then she looked at the other shoe and said "how bout that one, Prince Charming." He couldn't believe his ears. He slipped the second shoe on even more gently and attentively than he had the first and while still on one knee, asked Imogene if she were free for dinner that night.
She was.
They went to dinner and a movie after dinner. He asked her if she would like to stop off at his apartment for a drink.
She would.
They had a couple of drinks.
They both felt comfortable with each other. She slid out of the heels that she'd been wearing and told him that her feet were a little sore.
He took the cue and asked if he could rub them. She consented and enjoyed the sensual luxury as she relaxed even further.
She could trust him.
He could trust her.
He said he had a surprise.
He went into the closet and grabbed the first box he saw.
He opened the box before her. She loved what she saw if only they were the right size....red stilettos with a three inch heel.
The fit was perfect.
Needless to say, they lived happily ever after with an ongoing closet full of perfect surprises.

Nice take on the fairy tale
Nice take on the fairy tale and a proper happy ending. I was a little bit worried when he started collecting women's shoes at first - I've watched too many detective shows where men collecting stilettos is not a good sign! It was good to be proved wrong.
