Virulence

Throngs and swarms, throngs and swarms of words and fury,
encapsulated in forty and a hundred characters
deafening bickering Gaussian noise, pour into
tar pits of amorphous cantankerous agendas on the telly
to shock and awe and catch eyeballs.
In a state of perpetual emergency, replete with avarice and dastardy,
trolls are waiting for the barbarians, ‘the others’,
the shape-shifting ironclad monoliths, armed to discombobulate,
to trigger, to trend with relentless treachery
as we drown in suffocating soot together.
Throngs and swarms, throngs and swarms of sound and fury,
encapsulated in videos, morphed images on social networks
deafening bickering Gaussian noise, pour into
tar pits of amorphous cantankerous live streams’ sophistry
to shock and awe and catch eyeballs,
signifying nothing but a bleeding edge of virulence.

Suitably angst-inducing. The
Suitably angst-inducing. The repetition works really well. I try to avoid all of the above to mitigate against increasing my own anxiety though oddly enough do have a Twitter account, but I think because I only follow other writers pretty much that it is, so far, dross and troll-free and mostly free of other dark matter at the moment. Great poem. Rachel :)
