This is real time.
He's heading toward us.
We hope to God he isn't heading at us.
He already savaged Puerto Rico made his way East and then ripped West through Florida leaving death and destruction in his path.
He's tearing up South Carolina right now and then he's heading North towards us; hopefully not at us.
'Today is the opposite of yesterday here in Charlotte. Our beautiful blue sky has disappeared. The temperature has dropped 40 degrees.
This is a familiar setting for a grim story, isn't it?
Dark skies promising to grow more leaden.
Ian's on his way.
A hard rain's gonna fall. We're just waiting to find out how hard.
This is as close as I've been to a hurricane. I don't want to get any closer but that's all up to Ian now and the winds of change and destiny.
This is the calm.
This ain't Godot we're waiting for, this Is Ian with his sound and fury.

Good luck! I do hope you will
Good luck! I do hope you will be okay in North Carolina, but surely you should be, and you are inland are you not? These storms do seem to be getting bigger and more frequent! You describe the anticipation/fear well!
