Mighty Mighty, Spade &; Whitey
by The Impressions.
Wondering if we could get away with using this as a song title nowadays. And if not, why not? Is it because coloured people may object to the term "Spade" or that white people may object to the term "Whitey"?
Written and performed by Curtis Mayfield actually Karl. The Impressions were his backing group.
The term 'Coloured' is as about as racist as its gets these days old sausage.
Foot in mouth again I'm afraid pal.
(well, someones got to say it)
I repeat what I said on your Scala thread below, Darford. I thought we'd seen the last of you. Just couldn't keep away, could you?
Just received this from Dartford. What do we have to do to get rid of this idiot?
Karl
Scouse thing was not me pal. You really are a sad little racist jerk.
I'm really not invoved anymore. You must realise that I am not the only one who
thinks that you are stupid there are loads of us.
Now go away and listen to Kenny G for crying out loud.
Ralph
Karl
It was not me who did the Scouse thing.
I was the one who called you a racist on your 'Impressions' thread because you have no real sense of musical history and using the term 'coloured' really is outrageously racist.
Cant you see that?
I have left this site and was just browsing but could not of course notice your vile ramblings. I hate racisms more than anything else on this planet, if I spot one I will discourage them and put them in their place and so should everyone else of a similar mind
The scouse thing is funny and ironic, but look at the style of the writing, not mine at all. You really should read things properly, it will make you a better writer in the long run.
I really apologise to everyone else on the site for my sudden reappearance, and I will indeed bugger off again, but if Karl carries on with his useless and pathetic rhetoric I will be back like a flash.
If you want a racist in your mist then carry on, then judge yourselves, not me.
Tata
Ralph Dartford
It's not racist, it's just not Politically Correct .. a world of difference. My mum says "coloured" and then corrects herself, but that's because it was an accepted term for years and years.
My mum is as far from racist as it's possible to be.
Intolerance is the worst ism.
Presumably a " better writer" would have written "racist in your midst".
Just leave it Ralph, please, carrying on a personal vendetta in this way does nothing for you.
'You’re a very different colour'
by Karl Wiggins from his ABC Set 'Poetry'
You’re a very different colour
And thus unwelcome here
When I noticed you this evening
I was filled with dread and fear
I didn’t expect to see you
Not in this comfortable location
For it’s plain for all to see
That you lack sophistication
You’re coarser than I’m used to
And no mistake you’re tougher
It’s plain you’re uncontrollable
And are sure to make me suffer
You’re on your own right now
But I know your type all right
You’ll be the first of many
To claim this as your birthright
You’ll soon be taking over
A coarse, tough gang you’ll be
I’m going to have to face it
You’ll spread like damp algae
At least tonight you’re on your own
Playing solitaire
But I wish I’d never seen you
Little grey pubic hair
Now Good people of abc! Please do not try and tell me that this is Karl writing with a sense of irony . Oh and Hox, I did mean mist (because none of you fuckers can see through it and view the real Karl). ABC harbouring racists, shame on you all.
If this is a vendetta (Karl no dout thinks that word is some sort of ice cream) then I have some sort of justification do I not?
Or perhaps I should put another log on the fire and forget about it and let the world turn and let people be victimised.
Sorry for my morals.
Ralph
Ralph
Oh the Ironing!!!
No vendettas here thanks.
ABC doesnt need a moral guardian, people are well enough able to make up their own minds... there is no justification for any vendettas, anywhere, at any time. If Karl and you have a problem, take it elsewhere. Banging on about it on the forums is unecessary and boring for everybody... I'm sure you'll agree with me ralph.
Ralph - if you hate racism how come you're so uptight and prejudiced yourself. Pan calling kettle black?
Genrally I do agree with you Liana. It is dull but also conservative and timid to keep your mouth shut when any 'ism' rears its head. You 'balled' me out for reacting which makes you just as responsive to a degree as me and that is fine..
Freda, we all have prejudices and again that is fair for you to say.
off with my head
See you later.
Ralph
don't kid yourself ralph ... you are not on some sort of moral crusade here ... i think you are interested only in stirring things up ... and pursuing a personal grudge ...
i wonder if its an attention seeking device really because i do believe you to be deeply unhappy ... i don't think it is really fair to use the forums to play out bitterness and insecurity ...
i don't know what is going on in your life at the moment ... and i don't really want to know either ... but i sense its probably not good ... but raging against other people is no way to deal with it ...
i think that actually you have over time discredited yourself here at abc ... your irrational behaviour and general rancour have made you very unpopular with a lot of people ... i think you pretend not to care about this but probably like all of us you care very deeply about it ...
i don't think it is honest to dress up your anguish as aggressiveness towards anyone ... i believe you need to address the root causes of all this ... ask yourself why you want to make a high profile exit and then return under the guise of making a moral point ... we know you have a personal grudge against karl and so it doesn't wash to dress it up as a general viewpoint of the moral majority ...
nobody can stop you posting here i dont suppose ... and why would they want to ... but i think you need to stand back and take a long look at how you are representing yourself and why ... maybe you will conclude that it is really time to let it alone and get on with the business of life and the future ...
i know for sure that you aren't doing yourself any favours here ... and it isn't ever a pleasant experience for me to see someone making a bigger and bigger tit of themselves ... in fact it makes me squirm ...
so get a grip ... be honest with yourself and do yourself a favour ...
i'm with the fish, sort yerself out Raoul!
Alison and those who can be bothered
It's an exercise in Irony and if you don't get the gag then that's fine. Some people are getting it, and some are not. The games we play eh?
Now to explain my alleged unhappiness. My life is fine, I have a great job, a publishing deal and am personally very happy with me missus. There really is no grief at all in my immediate world. Its bizarre that you assume that and a little sad that your perceptions are so misplaced.
ABC does not mean much at all to me these days, it has become pedestrian, un-ambitious and sycophantic which many long timers always knew was going to happen in the long run and that's why I chose to leave. It needs a fresh injection of style and ambition, instead of limping with a stick as it does these days. My venue (Bloomsbury Theatre) is hosting the TS Eliot prize this weekend (absolute full house), Baroness Blackstone (minister for the arts) is our special guest of honor and will give an address. I cleared it with the Poetry Book Society to donate some free tickets and subscriptions to ABC and also to have some ABC publicity dotted around the building and contacted ABC accordingly (months ago I emailed Tony about this). So far nothing has come into my office which sums up the aforementioned lack of ambition. I no doubt will be bollocked by the staff for this as well, or given some lame excuse. This site used to be vital and now it is not, that makes me angry because there has been a real opportunity missed here.
I reappeared on the site because I cannot stomach Karl's ramblings (sit down with him for a while and he will reveal himself) and I have to comment on that in any style that I feel fit, it is after all as you state my right (just as it is anyone's).
You are a fine writer Alison and you will always have that ability, but crystal gazing is not your forte.
Absolute respect as ever.
Ralph
i think you are talking bollocks ralph ...
and that is your right.
but your wrong....
Make a song and dance and sometimes it works.
Mr Mark Brown will be visiting me this afternoon to drop off abc stuff and to collect some tickets.
I have had a result.
Cheers poppits
Ralph
I've been trying very hard of late to ignore the childishness that has been running riot on the forums, but feel I have to say my piece now.
Liana hit the nail on the head when she referred to Ralph assuming the role of 'moral guardian' to the site. Even if one was necessary Ralph is the least qualified person here to address the task. As a person who has been quite possibly the nastiest, most devious exponent of vitriolic abuse the site has had to endure, over a prolonged period of cowardly personal attacks, whilst posing as anything but a morallist, I find it astonishing that he has the brass neck to show his face at all.
Ralph, everyone knows you have dyslexia as you you've told us numerous times, but that is no excuse for using words in their wrong context with wrong meanings. Do yourself a favour and enrol in English language night classes, then try some philosophy classes, and finally see a psychiatrist about your personality disorder. I have seldom witnessed such a persistent display of arrogance, ignorance and downright conceit about a persons ability to judge others. I feel very sorry for you.
Now please go away and stay away, your presence and opinions are not necessary or required by anyone here.
Terri, can I quote you on the back of me book, that was fantastic!
Cheers mate

Leave - 'to abstain from dealing with'. OED
