Did anyone see the documentary on the assisted suicide tonight? what a lovely, lovely man. I've had many paliative/terminal care clients over the last four years and have been asked to help people die countless times. All we can do is hold their hand and offer useless platitudes. Although we can and do assist death with large doses of morphine in the last hours of a person's life, for the months and sometimes years leading up to that we can do nothing more than keep them comfortable and as pain free as possible. This program was well directed, recorded with dignity, and highlighted something that needs amending right now in Britain. I thought it was a brilliant piece of television.

it was a very moving show...although i think they could have done without the ad breaks....making money out of it didn't sit right with me...
