Copyright yes again

Hi all, I know this as been covered so many times but some one told me again yesterday that in order to getting published it's best if you can show them proof that the story/poem is yours and to post it to yourself. Im confussed all over again.

Copyright Agency Limited has some good info sheets. CAL is from Australia, but the law is very similar to the UK. http://www.copyright.com.au/information.htm
