Drinking Coffee Elsewhere

I just wanted to recommend this collection of short stories by ZZ Packer, an American woman. It's her first book. They are brilliant - sad, funny and vivid stories about real people. I love her unpretentious, honest prose, especially in the title story which has to be one of the most affecting short stories I've read for a while.

If anyone else gives this book a go I'd like to hear what you think.

As it turns out, ZZ Packer is giving a reading in Cambridge on 3rd April. Might be worth catching her if she's touring the country.
