approaching editors

Hello everyone!

I just joined the website today and I think it's a very good way of bringing writers together and sharing ideas and knowledge.

Those of you who have been published, how did you approach editors? How long did it take you before some of your work was published? I have approached a few editors by email, but very few of them have got back to me. Any tips for success? ;p
