Last Lines.

Dear All

I should put this in the 'discuss writing from elsewhere' forum but that is a lonely place these days so it's coming here.

What is your favorite last lines in a book? a line that truly sums up everything that has gone before it.
Mine is from The Peculiar memoirs of Thomas Penman by Bruce Robinson and is as follows.

He'd forgotten to bring the keys and bombs, but felt in his pocket for Walter's coin. Stepping back, he threw it as hard and as far as he could into the sea..
'@!#$ it,' he said.
And he stuck a fag in his mouth, and turned back to the town, with nothing much to look forward to, but life.

If you have not read this book, you might want to. The best rights to passage book that I have ever read.

Your turn please.

Ralph
