An Eardrop Fable

There was a man who owned great lands
that garnered him much wealth and power,
which meant that his opinion mattered:
people listened when he spoke,
friends would nod, the others cower.

Bordering his affluent spread
at one small point - which did not please
but seemed unworthy of attention -
on scrub hills where wild herbs grew
the natives nurtured hives of bees.

Their honey pleasured rich-tongued tastes,
its merits mouthed, its praises sung,
in spite of the occasional sting
borne philosophically, until
the mighty man himself was stung.

?I feel your pain,? he told the world.
?These bees shall have no place to hide.?
He sent his men into the hills
to seek and to destroy the hives.
Angry bees flew far and wide.

Their buzzing wings sounded alarms,
extermination teams gave chase.
The great man in his apiarist suit
appeared before the Press to state,
?I?ve made the World a safer place!?

This is very well witten......but Political humour....Nahhhhhh....Too much real life in it?
I'm not sure about poetry either.....but then who is?
