I reckon you should forget the bubble bath and just advertise him as a handy man.

Fergal's repeated 'I'm a nice girl me' reminds me of Eliza Dolittle's "I'm a good girl I am." Does anyone else find that things people say bring to mind famous fictional characters?

You made me nervous there, Ferg, I could have done with a reassuring smiley face :o)

I will never put a smiley face on an internet forum Smiley - it goes against everything I stand for (although I appreciate everyone else's right to do it). If - dear god please no - this site became one where you could 'insert' smilies from a selection of brightly coloured smilies I would have to seriously spend less time here. But I will smile at you if that helps. *smiles* (that doesn't mean none of this will be used in court you know....)

Actually it could be Cuttlefish: Chameleons might be more famous for it, but cuttlefish are nature's true masters of colour control, able to match any seabed almost instantly. In aquaria, they have even made attempts at imitating chess boards! From the moment of hatching, young cuttlefish can display at least 13 types of body pattern, made up from more than 30 different components.

I'm not sure whether I'm going to end up in court because I suggested you were NOT a heratbreaker or because I suggested you and Andrew might be a match made in Heaven (beams).

Geez, I was just joking. Flashy and I are definitely Sadges... lots of sea creatures communicate with colour: octopi, squid, cuttlefish, I think some jellyfish species.

There's nothing wrong with emoticons or what ever the hell they are called. They provide an added dimension to writing on internet forums, use them or don't use them. Like anything else, if used poorly, they have little meaning. They can also be mildly entertaining. To find them annoying is akin to finding the letter H annoying. They are not so different than people putting little quotes at the end of their messages.... *smiles, bites fingernails, rubs ass on chair, pulls shorts from butt crack*

Good thing Flash, you may bump in to Smiley and ag's unusual mating rituals.. *Winks*

Astronomy won't help you figure out if you'll get along well with someone, mate. Sorry. However, you could deeply impress them with your knowledge of Alpha Centauri, which may help.

Since I'm not quite sure whether Fergal thought I was getting at her yesterday I'd better point out that though she is obviously a fair lady her English is probably even better than Pygmallion's (friendly smile).

Is it a strange day today, Denver? Could just be my bloody lughi that's making me crazier than usual - I often find viruses things seem 'odd'.

Finding an Emocion (is that what the hell they are called????Christ.) annoying is not like finding the letter H annoying. I am not a child - although I have several aspects similar I know - and I don't want to spend my time blowing rasberries, raising eyebrows or whatever the hell it is those stupid little faces do. I am not some kind of moron. Please, Radio, carry on Emocioning away till your heart's content. I said I wouldn't take away anyone's right to if I had the power - it's just I don't like them. And that is my preference, all right?? the quote thing at the end of the message is sometimes to show that I am not being serious, or that I'm being sarcastic, as I know that some annoying and unobservant person will take me literally if I do not. I'd like to see you write a story with bloody Emocians in it rather than the letter H. Go on. I dare you. (If you *could* see body language now you would see I was quite furious)

Ferg, Ever hear of hieroglyphics..., ever hear of the Chinese language...it's a form of visual communication in a written medium. *winky little face* My point wasn't to advocate using them, just that they are there, they exist, they provide information that otherwise may be lost. *grinning teethy thing* We can live in the past or embrace the future. They are here, they are reality, they won't go away bitching about them. Best learn to live with them I say.

I love the idea of pictograms, Denver. Originally they were much like icons are nowadays but of course represented a word rather than an feeling.

Smileys: I suppose I don't like to see them spread around willy, nilly but they do convey tone quite effectively... and that can be useful in this internet medium. For that reason I should probably use them more often... spelling tone out in text can be cumbersome... Once you have been communicating with someone for a while, they probably become less necessary... Though not always! :(

I am not going to sit here and compare Emocions (honestly - look at that word!) to hyroglyphs. <> It isn't.

I think Gary is just in one of his provocative moods. Now that Jasper has gone, he has seen a vacancy and is thinking about filling it. And no, no emoticons or asides to show that I was 'just' joking, I don't much care for the controversial Radiodenver - I preferred the nice, interesting guy that we had for the last few months. I'd like to think that the abrasive, baiting guy that first turned up here using that name wasn't the real Gary at all, but someone just finding their feet. So there you go, having lectured everyone about behaving themselves, I go and start the first flame war. Sorry everyone else.

Good question Ferg... I don't dislike things just because they are there. I look at them and see what they have to offer and then take it from there. To me, and I'm not trying to pick on you..honest...people sometimes dislike things for no good reason. Like we have the never endiing thing of change in the workplace. New technology comes in, everyone huffs about...I don't like this...this is gonna suck...these people don't know what they're doing...it'll be the end of the world....blah blah blah... I'll write the CEO and tell him you don't like it, we'll cancel the project..okay... Life evolves, everything around us evolves...this is just one of those internet evolutions. Hell, I'm a dinosaur...I'm still living in the BBS days. *flashing titty thing*

I was just talking about Emocions or whatever it is they're called. I don't know why I don't like them (I like hyroglyphs and pictograms actually). Something about them really really gets my goat. The way people sneak them into posts (not on here necessarily) and just talk a load of pap that makes my eyes want to burn out. It just seems like lazy, Clintons Cardsy, sub-adventurous, bad-flirting, bad EVERYTHING... I just can't get it. It's just not me. It doesn't add anything to anything. I just avoid them whenever they can. Frankly, I find them embarassing. (but would never judge someone for using them though.) (as you can see, there are occassionaly things that I am not so reasonable about, though it is very occassionally. Who would have thought it would be THIS huh?!)

It makes me laugh that having been advised to tone it down on this forum - the usual suspects have merely changed to another forum to vent their spleens. My dad's bigger than your dad! No he's not... and he's ugly... :OP Well I'm brighter than you! No you're not... and your writing stinks... Well of course that's what a good critique is all about.

I didn't say you were unreasonable Ferg, I quite liked the pictures etc. on UKA (before they went private) but I wouldn't like to see them here. I think this forum has a certain more serious feel to it that pictorial frivolity would spoil. It's finding a happy medium (reminds you of Blythe Spirt) though. I just couldn't understand your point about Hyroglyphs and though it was probably just my inability to concentrate at the moment. Still sat here in my pyjamas trying to find the energy and inclination to go out for a walk.
