You know, I'm no meanie... but,

We all have them, It can be one good doo'er, or a freind of a friend who thinks it would be a fabulous idea. Or even the bloody boss. and this year was no different when I had yet another tin shoved under my nose.

"Pauls leaving, you want to put owt in?" I'm asked by one of my work mates...

The "We are having a charity raffle for such and such can you bring a prize - anything will do. Oh and by the way, tickets are a pound a strip, how many strips can I put you down for?"

I might as well just put two quid in and not waste foot leather or petrol nipping into town to buy a bloody raffle prize.

What I need is a fool proof way to get outa them - any idea's -

How about a raffle for me - so can now afford the said collections.

Secretly put in chocolate coins instead of real coins.

I do believe old francs, deutchmarks, pesas and Krona are useful here

Well - I'm passed the 18th - 21st - 40th so, I'm not on the birthday pressie list. I have no plans on the preggers bit - or dropping down after a heart attack, so no can do there either... Should I leave - I dont think anyone would collect fer me - I wont be remember for the person who always tips up - brings sweets into work - or trys to be pleasant to everyone - Nope! I recon... The chocolate coins sound good, I'm still thinking of a way to get the chocolate out and reforming the gold paper though... Checks money box for old coins... damn - two buttons, three smarties and an old threepenny bit...

Hang on to the threepenny bits, I always try to. Actually when I was in New Orleans a few weeks ago I visited the old mint. I laughed like hell at a basket of old English pennies (the 240 to the £ variety) on the gift shop counter. They were for sale at a dollar each, that would make a current quid worth $120!

I suppose ultimately you get out of life what you put in...? We have numerous collections at work all year long. The standard charge for each one is £1, but when it gets to your own birthday you get a card and a pressie and so forth etc.
