'Tatou'

Lesbian schoolgirls sing about the confusion of sexuality. Kids love it.

Cool or not?

This IS a pretty good song. I've never heard of it before (my knowledge in current pop music is REALLY poor), but it is better than those Britney Spears or Christina Agurgenrifcjbnj I hear on the promo commercials.

The next video is also rumoured to be banned, pure marketing ploy. Would have been so effective if the girls were plain and not young boy/girls wet dream. It's pure crude main-line greedy pop. Morally purile as it pretends to be socially conscience when it's pure hard-sell. Vomit. Catchy riff? yeah, like a nag.

It's substantially less offensive than Christina Aguilera's latest.

It is the music of the thing I love. Yes, the music. That's right the music.

Richard and Judy were discussing the 'gay kiss' in casualty yesterday. I'm sure that Freud would read into their apparant homosexual obsession...

Cool if youre a kid.. they dont understand what it's about, they just like the tune... kids arent as wordly wise and cynical as the folks that run the music industry. As a youngster i loved Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side. I didnt have a remote what it was about, I just liked it...

It's a good song, I like it a lot. The whole thing about their supposed Lesbianism (and hidden russian boyfriends) and Richard and Judy's outrage is a bit pointless really.

I haven't seen it, but in principle the idea is far better that the Britney Spears formula.

It's a classic Trevor Horn wheeze. His last big project was Frankie Goes to Hollywood, which used sexual perversion and gay men to cause a fuss. Now it's Tatou. I like it, because I can't resist a bit of Malcolm McLarenism.

i agree. richard and judy broke charlotte church, for whom a red-top tabloid had a 'countdown till she's legal' (ironically one that had a high profile anti-paedophile campaign, which made victims out of innocent pediatricians. oh the irony. finnigan and madeley as underage pornographers. ALLEGEDLY! i said allegedly. in case you didn't notice.

Isn't it spelt Tatu? I have yet to hear this tune but the video seems to be on MTV almost constantly. How do I see this thing without hearing the song - it's on at my gym so I gaze at these nubile young things snogging each other in their school uniforms whilst pounding out the miles on the running machine, breathe, attempting to beat the contestants in Countdown and watch some sport. The hardest bit is the breathing. It's just another cheap marketing trick but it works so what the heck! It's so sleazy though. The trouble is that I can think of many thousands of other things to get more worked up about than a couple of young Russians who should be making a mint out of it all.

I have to admit I haven't actually seen or heard it at all. I don't really want to - it'd crush my rosy picture of them courageously breaking taboos through popular song.

I have been praying to the God of minor perversions that Tatu's success spawns a surge of nu-wave pseudo-lesbian pop. They're schoolgirls, they're cute, they're getting it on... what more do you want, for God's sake? Good music? Well, if any cigar-chomping music moguls are reading this, could the next ones be Japanese? *drool* Sorry. Normal service will be resumed shortly.

Louie Louie .....by The Kingsmen, I believe, a grand precursor to all of this. Liana, I'm shocked....shocked....to learn you were listening to Walk on the Wild Side without understanding it. Doop Da Doop Da Doop ta da .....great song...right up there with Waiting for The Man..... Were you likewise mystified by Jean Jeanie? or from a MUCH earlier era> " I want a girl, just like the girl, who married dear old Dad."

Yeah, it's an amazing song. There's something so weird about the tune, must be the Russian influence. Apparently the album is a pretty cool electro-pop style affair, which could be fun. As for the lesbian thing, why not? If it annoys richard and judy, it's a winner in my book.
