I dunno, John. Even small boys do the same thing..."Mum! Where's the [insert required item here]?". Mum: "It's in the [place]". Son: "I looked there. It isn't there." Mum goes to [place]. [Item] is there, hidden slightly under the latest "Property" magazine, but clearly visible. Son: "Oh. I didn't see it." *NB Son is absolutely guileless. Quite sweet, really.
However, many females are, indeed, interested in erectorsaurus (those that are inclined toward that particular species, that is). So long as erectorsaurus ensures that aforementioned female is duly and thoroughly satisfied prior to owner of said erectorsaurus rolling over and going to sleep.
*guffaws*
A good erectorsaurus never sleeps Ag.
And yes, you are wright about the moronasaurus of the male species, they often need their mum to find the spatula.
*Wonders how high missi's hackles will rises*
Right!
If you're going on a male slag-fest I'm going to point out some of the failings of the lesser-shagged headachesaurus.
I won't stand by and not retaliate whilst feminists slag men .
"It's a very difficult path to tread if you start changing Holy Scritures to suit yourself though, Gerry. "
Either way you are caught in a trap, it makes more sense in this day and age to borrow from things that are common among the various religious traditions and compote (is there such a word.. don't care, I like it) your own version that engages with the things you have experienced in life. It is a much more satisfying path to tread then to just take one tradition (designed for life hundreds of years ago) and follow it verbatim. It is a path to folly. Perhaps we are due a new Messiah who will update the message to one that resonates with our times.
Oh, Missi, . .What, exactly, do you mean by "feminist", we wonders, aye, we wonders. A woman with an opinion on men that isn't 100 per cent gratuitously flattering? A woman with an opinion, full stop?
*wonders if Missi's haircut doesn't actually hide the strongly-defined brow ridges of a Neanderthal*
Thanks, George, for the reminder that there comes an age where being cool is NOT cool but a horrid embarrassment. Maybe Maggie will marry the appalling old git, do you think the Queen would attend?
Fuck 'em, I'm sick to death of them slagging us. What the hell did they ever bring to the table, (apart from the food that we paid for and they cooked in the cooker we bought installed in the house we bought with the money we worked ourselves into early graves for)?
The sceptic in me says, Stormy, that people who pay attention to astrology or have friends who do, play up those aspects of the sign descriptions that fit them and play down the ones that don't. Because you're a Virgo, when you do something that fits the Virgo characteristics, you are reminded of the Virgo characteristics and it reinforces the impression - but when you do something that would fit with a Pisces characteristic, you just think you're being Stormy, not a Piscean story.
I once read out a description of star-sign personalities to a person once and they were amazed at how accurately it described them, absolutely right, down to a tee. Only thing was, I'd read them Capricorn and they were Gemini. It's what you want to believe.
Even knowing all that, I still think I do have Cancerian tendencies but that's social conditioning for you.
Well I wrote the title and if you study it you will see the three little dots that lead it into the rest of the sentence, and it was referring to politics.
Christ, you are an infuriating bastard.
Yes I know.
Why I Love Men:
a generalised analysis,
by archergirl
Men are wonderful because they're different from women.
Men like to have things to 'fix' and feel useful. Women don't generally like to fix things, so women get men to fix things, and both are happy.
I love men's vulnerabilities, more so because they aren't 'allowed' to show them, really; it reminds me that men are soft inside, and need to be loved. Even you, Missi, even you.
I love men's bodies. I love their physical strength. I love their ability to focus on one thing to the exclusion of everything else, especially if that one 'thing' is me. ;-)
Some of the most heartbreakingly beautiful music in the world has been composed by men. Of course, this is because women weren't 'allowed' to compose it, but still...
Need I go on? I could explain in detail just why I am particularly fond of species erectorsaurus, but this is supposed to be a literary phorum, not a pornographic one, so I'll refrain...use your imagination.
So there.
I had a brilliant chemistry professor at university, Dr. Cruickshank. He used to bring things in to blow up in the lecture hall; before every lecture he would put a Calvin and Hobbes cartoon up on the overhead for our amusement. I just loved him. I loved chemistry. But the subtlety of your humour evaded me, alas...I was trying to remember what the elemental name for gold was (and it's still evading me). All I can think of is silver, argent, Ar.
hokum!
Astrology? do me a huge favour with brass nobs and a fried egg on top!
It's just a way of saying nothing in twelve different ways, or better still saying "you're great" twelve different ways.
You never read, "you're not a very good sign actually and people of your type tend towards failure and unattractiveness."
Like palm/tarot reading, it's all about making the person feel good and have something to look out for/forward to in as vague a way as possible to avoid actually hitting any marks and causing widespread panic amongst the weak minded.
.. sorry I'm very tired... probably an aquarian trait I've no doubt.
I agree, Ely - it is cold-reading. Tha'ts fine if it keeps people happy, but this stuff like "Cancers and Librans aren't compatible as lovers" makes my blood boil.
So you're going to dismiss one twelth of the potential partners available because they were born in the wrong month? That's crackers. Really, star signs have nothing whatever to do with compatibility, unless you choose to believe it and go into a relationship thinking "this is bound to work/fail he's a Scorpio!"
If you believe in astrology, you reinforce your own personality traits to fit in with what your sign tells you. It is as though someone had told you from the age of four that you were frightened of spiders -you'll end up being frightened of spiders because you're supposed to be, not necessarily because they are frightening.
And you're aware of course that in all blind-tests astrologers do maybe 1 or 2 per cent better than the statistical average (i.e pure guessing) when they talk to someone for five minutes and ask them whatever questions they like and then try to identify their star-sign (the only precluded questions being 'what's your star sign' and 'when were you born?')
I read the other day that UK legislation does actually exist to prosecute people who make money out of people by claiming to contact the dead. I think it is called the Fraudulent Mediums Act (will do the research). I'd love someone to bring a prosecution under that, these people are unscrupulous con-merchants who take advantage of vulnerable and unhappy people.
Of course, someone is about to tell me that being a Cancerian, I am naturally sceptical.
I was actually thinking that your arguments often were close to gold (or have i got the artist target colours wrong too - I'm a bit distracted tonight - and I somehow convinced myself that Ag was Gold... I think it is argent (silver) though... good group I thought.
I don't remember ever flirting with you Emma, but I do it as a reflex action, so it is possible. And star-sign compatibility is gibberish.
Don't you ever see people with personality traits that you would never imagine working together that somehow do? Compatibility is a hugely complicated thing and you can't assess it on someone's birth month.
(Oh, actually, maybe I do remember now - was it offering you my experience of threesomes as an easy way of testing the water as regards Sapphism?)
