I want to run

I want to run
Just one more time,
To see how it feels,
Un-harnessed from my cane,
Shops and houses passing at speed,
The feel of the wind,
Through my remaining hair.
I want to run,
Use my trainers,
All technology and laces,
Not just for comfort and style,
But to speed along on great strides,
Free, unrestricted.
I want to run,
To leap and bound,
Across soft yielding grasses,
Unforgiving tarmac roads,
As I did in my youth,
Limping's no fun.
I so much want to run,
In another dimension - maybe.
