Hard on the outside

If you flick
Small, crunchy creatures
They dont smash
Or
Crash.
They just
Walk about a bit,
Wriggle and kick and then
Re-orientate themselves
To follow
The same scented paths.

I'm building a shell.
There's something to be said for being
Hard on the outside
And soft on the inside.
