the world of the deaf

Once upon a time, in another time and place, there was a lonely world. It was the world of the deaf.
In the world of the deaf no-one could listen to each other’s complaints; so it was a very indifferent world. In the world of the deaf no-one could listen to tales of each other’s good fortune; so it was not a particularly happy world. In the world of the deaf no-one could hear the wolves howl in the darkness; so it was an extremely dangerous world. In the world of the deaf no-one could hear the beautiful sound of the whispering wind; so it was such a lonely world. In the world of the deaf no-one could hear the nightingale’s song at night; so it was a world that did not know the beauty of life and nature.
But someday a miracle might happen, and their ears would be opened to a million wonders. If eyes could open; then ears could hear. Somewhere under the moon and stars there was still hope.
