Bless My Prison

Bless My Prison
You left your roses on the train,
That you departed in the rain
To sing above a cage, the angels made,
I walked you to this twisted show
You left your footprints in the snow,
Many frightened people hold a blade.
A choking remorse is in the steam
A train can sigh at any dream
The iron here will rust below your shoes
I said 'goodbye', but I'm coming back
A leaf is waltzing by the track
He, who does not play, will never lose.
No, he who does not chain himself
To his broken masters wealth
Will slide between the rainbows of conceit
Which king will beg before he falls?
One learns to cry in dungeon walls
Whose rainbows are now shadows of defeat?
The mountain softly stabs the cloud
Silence here is mighty loud
The mirror maker is a man to fear
Have mercy upon these shivering hands
From his throne the vulture lands
I said before, my prayers were insincere.
I saw you marching in the sun
And your smirk of joy, when the war was won
My uniform hangs high in the hall of dust.
Now I've blessed this prison with a lonely stare
I've pledged my faith to an empty chair
Is theft alone, a punishment for trust?
Now, who is it who climbs to you?
To find so cold your eyes of blue,
To starve himself beneath your fruits of love
I've cracked my spine against this floor,
Don't offer me an apple core
He who shoots the gun, must catch the dove.
Yes, I've cut myself and the bleeding sky
This poisoned wine is very dry,
So sweet your love with a subtle hint of bleach
Your jester's makeup's hard to trust
These prison keys will never rust
I won't forget the rainfall in my speech.
