I'm Geoff with a 'G'
Not Jeff with a 'J'
And that's how I like it
Whatever people say
It was good enough for Chaucer
So it's good enough for me
He also wrote his name 'eo'
To follow after 'g'
Since the year of thirteen forty
This spelling has held sway
Then along came the Americans
Who spell Jeffrey with a 'j'
They say they all speak English
This is very nearly true
But if they spell out 'colour
They don't put in the 'u'
So it's Geoff with a 'G' and then 'eo'
Followed by double 'f','r','e','y'
It's not too hard to remember
So will you all please try.

I need a similar poem to remind people to spell my name Maggy with a Y rather than IE.

So it’s a ‘geography’
So it’s a ‘geography’ type of Geoff! ;-)
*******
It’s a ‘baggy’ type of Maggy,
Not like Rod Stewart’s ‘Maggie May’.
No ‘i’ or ‘e’ vowels thank you;
But do include both ‘y’ and ‘a’!
