A New Tomorrow
Glancing shyly from unblinking eyes
As a new tomorrow
Lazily unfolds.
Dreams drip unevenly onto crumpled bedclothes,
While unknown clothes, hastily discarded, and disarray of hair
Tell of a passion spent
And promises of a passion to come.
Dreamy, unfamiliar features chisel into a pillow,
Fall into focus and
Weary, but excited, she watches him
Unpeel
Feels him
Unravel
Listens to him
Understanding.
Under the covers, furtive fingers crossed,
She hopes.
Hopes that this time,
This time,
She's got it right.
