Baker Street

I just heard Baker Street and remembered like I always do every time that I hear Baker Street what I thought the first time that I ever heard Baker Street.
The first time that I heard it, I Immediately knew it was going to be a song that I would remember hearing for the first time for the rest of my life.
Whenever it comes on and I'm sitting with Lynn when it comes on, I always tell her about the very first time that I heard Baker Street. She always tells me that I've told her that before and I tell her that I know I've told her that before but that's another reason why I like the song so much because I love HER a little bit more every time I tell her about the first time that I heard Baker Street.
I think i'ts that opening sax....Ba Bump BUmp Badda Baa followed by Ba BUmp BUmp Badda Baahah Bah Bah Bump Bump Badduwaa.
Yeah
Irresistible
I can hear it again now as I type it for the first time.
Maybe someday I'll tell Lynn how I felt the first time that I typed Ba Bump BUmp Badda Baa followed by Ba BUmp BUmp Badda Baahah Bah Bah Bump Bump Badduwaa U Wah Bump Bump Bodduwah.
Do you recognize it?
I'm feeling great. Feeling like I did so many years ago when I heard Baker Street for the first time.
And then Gerry Rafferty comes in with the perfect voice. I don't remember any of the words other than "forget about everything" which I forget about every time I hear the song and then I remember hearing Rafferty say something about forgetting everything in the song so I do until the next time the song comes on like it did fifteen minutes ago.
Then I start to wonder how someone can create a song that is so obviously gonna be a hit that will be played for decades. If they can do it once and do it so easily, why can't they do it over and over and over again.
Why isn't Gerry Rafferty a household name?
How come so many people don't even know the name of the song when I tell them about the first time that I heard it until I try to sing the sax part and then they go "oh yeah...that song was great. What's it called again."
I tell' em Baker Street just before they ask me who did that song and I say Gerry Rafferty just before they ask me whatever happened to him?
Just before I ask myself whatever happened to me.

It's a most brilliant song.
It's a most brilliant song. When it came out I'd just started living in London and for various reasons I spent quite a lot of time in and around Baker Street. Just that opening sax takes me right back there. Thanks for this, Ice!
