Yeah, we're all entitled to our feelings which suggests that we're all entitled to our beliefs. Beliefs are feelings that can't be proven. Once they are proven they fall into the realm of science/reality.
Here in America we have 33 million people who no longer are entitled to their beliefs as their feelings have been proven to be invalid. What more can be done to PROVE that Biden's election was/is legitimate? We've tried every kind of recount and maneuver and mechanism imaginable. Biden won both the electoral vote and the popular vote. We keep trying to get the voting thing right. Hell, we have 4 amendments to the constitution aimed right at it.
The fact that he won the caused Biden like every president before him to believe that he had a mandate from the people. When all the votes are in, icluding landslides for Reagan, Nixon and Johnson.....nobody has won more than 50% of the possible voting population. Sometimes we choose the lesser of two evils based once again on our beliefs which is another word for feelings which is another word for emotions. Sometimes, we don't vote at all.We don't know what's gonna happen when we elect a new chief executive....we just believe until we don't anymore.
Obama looked like he had a mandate.....who were we kidding. We've still got a big problem with race over here and our original sin was not purged by the election of a minority. Just because you've got a black person or a gay person for a friend doesn't mean you're neither racist nor homophobic. Hey we obviously aren;t racist over here. We elected a blck guy president. Matter of fact, that choice pissed off and cornered the most threatened bloc of Americans; non college white guys. These guys are the base of the Republican Party, the last vestige of a no longer existent America. This group fears the "replacements" that have come to take them away....immigrants and women and eggheads.
Clinton had the shakiest of mandates due to the presence of Perot when Bill ran against Bush. Only 43% of America supported Bill during his presidential campaign and election. He too thought he had a mandate, until he put Hillary in charge of health care and watched it blow up in his face at which point he attempted to triangulate. Triangulation was working pretty well right up to the impeachment. The impeachment helped Bill in the public eye.
A mandate is a belief which is a feeling that can not be proved.
All of us love our beliefs. We will fight for them. We will die for them. We will divide a democratic country for them. All we need is somebody to believe in who will help us to validate whatever lack of knowledge we use to foster our cherished beliefs. In America, we have Donald Trump.
He too thought he had a mandate which he sorta did with the 75 million folks who believed everything that Donald fed them. Two impeachments? An insurrection? What's the problem. We have faith in Donald. Faith is a cornerstone of belief. We believe that Trump won the election. We can not be convinced other wise. We are wrong.
Wait a minute! Did i say "wrong". How can I say that someone is wrong. Everyone is entitled to their feelings correct. I can't help how I feel can I?
This is where education comes into play. Education is beyond the shooting galleries known as public schools. Education is a committment to life long learning which means life long change. Change means that we can help how we feel. The two party system which makes us believe we only have two choices is the biggest lie of them all. The Republicans emerged as opponents of slavery. What will emerge in opposition to deadlock.
We're headed for a brand new party, a aparty that is not just an alternative to incompetence, partisanship and deadlock What if Cheny, Kinzinger, Sinema, Murkowski, Sanders and Manchen all stepped away from their current parties and took 25% of their respective parties with them.
That could happen in my lifetime and I'm seventy five. God knows that something's got to give.
Ya feel me out there?
Well, don't believe me if you do.
I'm just being emotional.
