A Brief Pause in the Inaction

Haven't we all been playing with ourselves
a little too much since we've been cooped
duped and quarantined?
Haven't we become a little self-indulgent
in an effort to combat,
boredom, isolation, alienation and rage.
Hey, we've got plenty of time to kill.
Whatever gets you through the night, am I right?
My time of temptation
comes around 3 in the afternoon.
I can't stand watching anymore teevee.
I'm gonna take a few minutes,
just a few before I turn on
my kindle and read myself to sleep.
That's when it happens.
I ignite my Amazon Fire and start playing solitaire.
As oƒ today, I've played 4,000 games of Solitaire.
Probably 5 minutes a game.
Sometimes six or seven
That comes out to 20, 000 minutes
362 hours,
15 entire days
or if you want to call it like a work day
45 shifts
45 shifts of soliataire
at the very least
And I'm not talking about shuffling
Nor am I talking about dealing
All of that is done remotely
I just play the game
Just me playing all alone
no calls on the phone
Imagine what I might have done
With those 15 days
Better yet imagine what someone else
might have done with those fifteen days.
Rome wasn't built in a day
I've won 411 times
A little better than one outta ten
I haven't lost any money
I haven't won a dime
Chewing up the time
After each game
I hit "start a new game"
And another five minutes
(maybe six, seven or eight)
Prepares to test thebait.
I'm gonna cut down on this.
It's not good for me
Although it does keep me away
from the chips and the booze
the lies and the news
and the smack and the porn
for five minutes at a time
while I play with myself.

Enjoyed this poem. So very
Enjoyed this poem. So very true. Discovered the "replay game" button as well and taken my win ratio over 44%. Time well spent honing the eye finger syncing, though must admit to a sore shoulder.

Some interesting observations ...
... although some of us have still been working, not playing with ourselves.
