Covid Comeback at Panther Stadium

The virus needs to spread to live and it lives to spread. In order to live to spread, the virus needs to mutate. With its spreading and mutating, the virus has been having a ball battering defenseless humans around the clock and around the world.
And in Divided America, the home of the free.
Now we’re fighting back.
Our masks and social distancing helped but were only passive resistance. Still we resisted as best we could while our scientists in spite of some politicians searched for a more aggressive response. They developed several vaccines that will slow down if not stop the spread which makes it difficult for the virus to survive. If we get enough vaccines into enough arms, we can stop the son of a bitch.
We’ve got more than a puncher’s chance after rope- a dopin’ for the past year while hundreds of thousands of us died.
Now, we’re involved in another arms race.
The virus is mutating so time becomes a factor.
Yesterday, I’m proud to say, I saw America at its best. I saw the beginning of the pushback. Thousands of folks, most of us severely endangered, headed downtown...to the front of the line.
In Southern North Carolina, we gathered in Charlotte. In Charlotte we gathered at Panther Stadium. Yeah, the NFL was lending a hand.
We were pro-active.
We made reservations.
We arrived at the right place at the right time.
As we headed into the stadium, we passed hundreds of people heading out.
Rope lines had been secured.
Everyone was calm, the helpers securing the lines were helpful, kind, patient, friendly.
The lines moved swiftly.
This was America at its best. Absolutely no division. Red, blue, purple, black, white, yellow, rich, poor, fat, thin, co-operating against a common enemy.
This is the America I remember.
Twenty minutes later, past the black curtains, I met Jaclyn.
I asked her if she was gonna give me my shot.
She was.
She did.
Beautifully.
No pain.
I thanked her.
She congratulated me.
I met Lynn and we went to the area marked off to wait and see if we would suffer any immediate side effects.
On my way to the area, I passed an entrance to the field. I asked the guard if I might take a look at the field.
Again another friendly person who said “of course you may.”
I passed the guard.
I got a look at the field.
At the far end, the scoreboard was alight with these words.....” I got the Shot.”
I took out my camera. The camera worked. This wasn’t a dream.
After getting the covid shot, I got the shot of the scoreboard as it flashed “I Got The Shot.”
I found Lynn. She was doing fine. I told her about the scoreboard. Together we went back to the guard who once again said “of course you can”.
Noticing that I had my camera, he asked if he could take our picture.
I said “of course you can”.
I asked him to wait until the scoreboard once again flashed “I got the shot.”
He said of course he would.
He waited.
He got the shot.
We got the shot.
We’re stopping the spread.
We’re coming back all of us.
11,000 folks vaccinated at Panther Stadium
Great to be amongst the leaders
Here in America.
The land of the free Covid shot.
