Did Eye Blink?

"I see," said the Blind King to the deaf queen "if you had any balls you'd be king."
Tomorrow, I'm going in for cataract surgery. Going forward, I should be seeing the world in a more accurate and focused way.
About a year ago, I went for an eye examination before getting a new pair of glasses.
After checking my eyes and analyzing the data from the checking, the Doctor returned to the examining room.
"How are you seeing things", the Doctor asked cheerily.
"It all depends on how dirty my glasses are."
The doctor sorta laughed and said, "It's not the glasses I'm afraid. Your worsening vision is a result of the caract that you have had for awhile. We can get that taken care of for you if you want."
I said "just let me try the new glasses and I'll come back in a year and then we'll SEE."
Again he sorta laughed.
A month ago, the year had passed. I returned to the office. This time after his examination, the Doctor changed his diagnosis from a suggestion to a recomendation. He began his sales pitch. The procedure is low risk, paid for by insurance, I will get a free pair of new glasses whether I need them or not and I probably won't need them except possibly for reading.
Always wanting to make the most of insurance as well as getting a new pair of shades and who knows maybe seeing the world accurately for the first time in my life, I said "Let's go for it."
We scheduled the procedure for February...might as well make it on Valentine's Day.
The right eye will be first followed in a week by the left eye.
Tomorrow is Valentine's Day. According to Doctor's orders, I've been putting very expensive eye drops into my right eye for the last few days. I'm not real good at controlling my blink reflex as I try to get the drops into my eyes. Every time I blink, I'm afraid that I didn't get enough of the eye drop into my eye. Yesterday, I asked Lynn to help me out.
She instructed me to lean back and look at the ceiling while she held my lower eye lid down. I felt like an Andalusion dog for a couple of seconds until I felt the drop hit my eye and begin to roll down my cheek.
The liquid runoff down my cheek felt similar to the runoff when I had given myself the drops. I asked her if she was certain the drops got into my eye. She said, "I saw them hit your eyeball". This observation made me feel as If my self-administered drops had been accurate.
I didn't want to go the office and have the Doctor say, "we can't do the procedure today because of poor preparation on your part." which would mean I had wasted $150 worth of eye drop solution which means I would have to spend another $150 to replace what I had wasted and try again to do something that I wasn't doing right . That's too much like my education.
Today is the Superbowl. My interest in the game is at an all time low. I'm looking forward to getting tonight out of the way and heading for the Doctor early in the morning. For some reason, we have to be in the waiting room two hours before the procedure
Everybody tells me there's nothing to worry about and actually the sedation drugs used is kinda groovy one you get past the IV. Thanks to Covid and all the blood teting during an beyond my radiation treatments I'm no longer terrified by needles.
I'm always in for a good groove.
We'll see wha's gonna happen.
We'll see.
It doesn't take a lot of balls
