Effortless Observation of Youth

After returning from a very brief but enjoyable walk around my neighborhood, I took a seat on my porch. A kid from across and down the street emerged from his house with his basketball. The kid took a couple of shots and missed them both. The basketball began to roll down his tilted driveway towards the street. The kid ran after the ball and stopped its roll by SITTING on the ball while it was still rolling. The kid, maybe eight years old, then tied his shoes WHILE sitting on the ball. When he was lacing his shoes, I wondered how he was going to get off the ball without it rolling into the street. I figured that if he did it, it would look effortless. He did it. It looked effortless.
If it had been me, the ball would have rolled into the street. If I got the ball before it rolled into the street, stopped it and tried to sit down on it, there's a fifty fifty chance that I could co-ordinate all of that that but I definitely could not tie my shoes while sitting on the ball and I would need help getting up off the ball which would have rolled into the street and possibly down the street where I would have had to take a brief but enjoyable walk to retrieve it.
And then a rest on the porch
The word "effortless" would not be used to describe my effort.
