Eve In Eden

Would you believe
I got to go with Eve
She's the prime rib of all time
Put her profile on the dime
Here she was in the garden,
No need to beg anybody's pardon
frolicking at will
over dale and hill
No need for knowledge.
Forget about college
No shoes for toes
No need for clothes
No need for pain.
No need for gain
Gotta hunk for a mate.
No need for a date
Dude named Adam.
Maybe ya heard of him.
He was a buddy of God.
Who gave him the nod
They were on a first name basis.
Chilling in the oasis
Then a rib and a hundred pounds of clay
and dissatisfaction was on its way.
Suddenly there was a word called "more".
Eve wanted more and so did her buddy the serpent.
Eve wanted wisdom.
She wanted knowledge.
She wanted when there was no such thing as want.
She was a wanton.
She trusted everybody and everything except for God.
The serpent?
No problem.
He was a wantin' too so they got along.
Still no right, still no wrong
There was only one thing she couldn't have.
There was only one thing she wanted.
She convinced Adam that wanting was good and wisdom was better.
Wisdom would provide an endless supply of wants.
The supply of wants stretched on and on and on.
Something new to want every second of every day
Even though seconds and days and months and years
Were as far away as worries, doubts and fears.
As far away as blood, sweat and tears
As far away as makeup, body image and mirrors.
Nowadays Adam would have just had a couple of beers
He didn't have to worry about shit from his peers
Pressure hadn't been invented yet
Until the apple, she asked him to get
When he did, he disobeyed
The sunshine gave way to shade
His old pal God was quite dismayed
His wrath at his creations was displayed
Pain was all around felt within
Which now we call original sin.
Thanks Eve for the Babels that we built
Where would be as children if not for guilt?
