As so often happens, an uptick in technology produces a change in behavior. My new souped up Apple watch which keeps track of everything has arrived in synchronicity with the opening of a brand new senior center just five miles down the road.
The Senior center offers every kind of activity. It has two gaint pools...one for lap awimming and one for walking around. It has an indoor track for walking and running. It has every piece of workout equipment that I've ever seen. It has a rich array of activities. Today we're going to attend a chair yoga session and walk a couple miles on the track. Thursday we're going in for some bingo.
I had noticed prior to te opening of the senior center that my walk had been devolving for years. Once upon a time, I was light on my feet. The lightness eventually turned into a slaunter, which is a sloppy saunter.
Since I've retired, I've noticed that my walk has turned into a seemingly endless trudge. I had no goals other than to get back to the couch and turn on the teevee.
Now with my watch, counting every step, measuring my heart beat, sending encouragine messages and even contributing $10 per month to my Kindle account if I complere ten days per mopnth of at least 7500 steps per day,
Now I have purpose. The drudge is gone and do am I.
I'm striding off to the track and better health.
I gotta lotta livin, livin' livin to do.
