8:29 in the evening on the shore of Blackbird Bay.
Watching the sunset on Lake Otsego at the spot James Fenimore Cooper, the Pathfinder and the Mohawks called Glimmerglass.
To take a photo of Glimmerglass at sunset is to know where to stand.
I keep choosing different places to stand as my photographic pre-visualization guides me.
I know what I want the image to look like and I have an idea of how to capture Glimmerglass at Sunset.
It's not about standing, it's about kneeling.
I kneel to Glimmerglass.
I snap.
I rise
but I don't.
I've lost the strength in my leg to push me upright.
I sit and contemplate Glimmerglass.
I begin to crawl to the nearest point of leverage.
It feels miles away.
I see two youg men walking towards Glimmerglass probably trying to not see me.
They sit on a bench overlooking Blackbird Bay.
I call out to one or both "can you help me"
One comes over and helps me to my feet.
I nearly pull him into Glimmerglass
I thank him and say " I had fallen and could not get up".
He said "I'm on my way there myself".
Big difference between getting there and being there.
I turned away from Glimmerglass with a new knowledge of the danger of a fall
In this new world of after.

trying not to see people
trying not to see people takes a lot of practice, but some girls are so good at it.
