Listen up, Jedidiah.
When Moses asked the burning bush for identification, the bush said yahwe.
In his mind Moe thought I'll call this I AM and Willl Be God "yah" for short.
When he spread the news of Yahwe the people wanted to name their children after God
Moses felt that was a little too much and was afraid everyone would be called Yahwe
And he knew that everyone called Yahwe was damn sure not God.
Ya follow me, Uriah?
They were drifters
They were drafters
They were tough guys
Anxious mothers
Kibitzers and quibblers
Big shots and small fry.
Not a Yahwe among them.
Yahwees don't grow on trees.
So Moses said "you can't all be Gods
But you can tie your identity to God
And claim almighty protection for your lives
For your hagglers and their slave girl wives.
Add his nickname to the end of your name
And YHWH will help you with your game.
