One hundred years ago, exactly more or less.......
Percy had huge eyes and lashes.
Percy had big feet and a long neck.
Percy had a pea brain and even smaller intuition.
Whatever he saw entered one eye and at the same instant exited the other.
The pea between his ears offered very little interference.
He gallumphed around his pad with zero fear, zero hatred, zero suspicion, zero envy.
The only thing Percy ever processed was his food.
Sometimes, Percy would get two eyefuls that hesitated in their entry and exit.
Not fear, of course, just a visonary overload that caused Percy to hang his head in comfort rather than shame or alarm.
One day, in the midst of hangin down his head, Percy found himself looking at a plate of spaghetti.
He tasted.
He threw his head back.
He hung it again after blinking his beautiful eyelashes.
He had never hung like this before.
This hang had a purpose other than comfort.
Percy wanted more spaghetti and he would get it.
Everyone was happy.
As the century was turning 20 in Jacksonville Florida, spagehtti was becoming a very big deal.
Many Italians had arrived at Ellis Island some with a passport, some without.
Some of both spilled South,
One of them would come to meet Percy over a plate or several.
His name was Ping.
Ping had been around.
Mostly, with the fish In Frisco
And diamonds all over the states.
