Scratching Out a Fifteen Minute Itch

I've got exactly fifteen minutes to write and scratch so here we go.
Last night I dreamt that I heard a mosquitoe flying around me which produced a sensation resembling an itch. In my dream, I itched the itch which woke me up. Now, fully awake, I realized that it wasn't the dream of the mosquito that had caused me to itch, it was an actual itch that caused me to dream of the mosquito that I thought had bit me and caused the itch. Of course I scratched the itch which caused the sensation to subside for a minute before I could feel it starting up all over again, this time even more irresistible and urgent
The urge to itch grew stronger after each scratching because the scratching produced a counter-irritation that distracted my brain from the original itch sensation, while it triggered the release of histamine and other chemicals that intensified the itch sensation which stimulated the nerves in my itch area which encouraged other areas to start urging thier chemicals. Now my hands feet and ears were all joining my ankle in a symphony of irritation which of course woke up Lynn who said as she always says in this situation.."What are you doing?"
I told her I was itching.
She said "Stop itching"
I said, "I wish I could."
She said, "Think about something else"
I started thinking that I should get up and go to the computer and write something about itching. I got up thirteen minutes ago and the itch seems to have moved to my fingertips and as I scatch the keys, the urge seems to be going away. Thank God
