Screamin' a Spell

I'm a tremendous speller but a poor spell checker.
Bottom line, I'm a mediocre speller.
A few years ago one of the most literate guys I knew told me that he was completely computer illiterate. I remember telling him then that in a few years, if he didn't get computer literate he wouldn't just be computer illiterate....he'd be just plain illiterate.
We both thought that one over for a silent moment and then let it pass.
So now I must apply the same standard to my spelling.
I'm too proud to use spell check and I proofread too quickly. That makes me a mediocre speller and editor based on the ignorance of tools that are available to me.
Maybe that explains why I still like music on vinyl. I enjoy the crackles and skips that the needle picks up when it encounters beer stains on an LP.
When I played music rather than listening to it, my band was what would be called today a garage band. What we lacked in talent and precision we made up in energy and guts.
Maybe I'm a gutsy speller. Or maybe my band was just garbage and not garage. After all the only difference between garage and garbage is "b".
I spell from the gut even on those occasions when I spill from the gut which is a rarer occasion than when I spell from the gut.
Some people claim that the Beatles lost their guts when they increased their ingenuity somewhere around the time of Revolver and certainly by Sgt Pepper's.
From that point until the arrival of the punks, rock and roll became a matter of perfection rather than passion. In the process rock and roll was ruined forever regardless of the Ramones. Too many white guys........
When I want to hear imperfection, guts, energy and authenticity, I put on my ancient vinyl recording of Screamin' Jay Hawkins who sums up everything I'm struggling to say when he screams
I PUT A SPELL ON YOU.

Wow, Where do I begin? I loved the tempo of this and of course the content - It made me laugh - it struck a nerve - fostered a camaraderie (I love vinyl too) - Frankly, it blew me away with its fast paced, witty commentary. I love your style of writing and thanks for sharing this one.
You made me smile today!
