Secrets and Faith

Here's the secret about cryptic writing. Cryptic writing is about secrets.
A secret often begins with a suspicion.
We seek to reality test that suspicion without giving away the secret.
We beat around the bush even as we sense that the bush may be burning.
We mask our language in double or triple meanings and within those meanings our message is startlingly clear if ya know what I mean which most people don't but think that they might. We make sure that our double and triple meanings are truthful yet ambiguous enough so that they can be applied to a vast compendium of imaginary secrets and get in synch with a secret or two that the reader has.
We wink as if we're in on each other's secrets even though we may be planets apart.
The idea that we're whispering and/or hearing whispers makes us feel included in the cryptology.
Certain secrets, yielded from suspicion, gain a life of their own.
They grow and grow agressively until they have grown enough to become a before and after.
They become undeniable.
They manifest.
They feast on man.
We respond with faith.
Faith begins with revelation.
We realize we are not alone with our secrets.
I found out yesterday that I have prostate cancer.
I found out yesterday that I have faith.
