Too Much Information

File this under too much information, I'll omit the crappy details.
I'm going in for a colonoscopy in 45 minutes.
Here's what I had to do in preparation.
No food yesterday. I consumed the first dozen of two dozen high powered pills along with 16 ounces of water. I chose the pills over the formula. If you choose the formula, you've got to drink 136 ounces in twelve hours. I know for a fact that I could consume 156 hours of beer in that time but the formula from what I've been told is a far cry from beer even though over the years, they've added flavor to the formula.
I had to take the pills in two sessions of a dozen each and take a sip with each pill. I'm not real good at sipping in the first place and even worse when trying to force down one of these large pills. I was taking more than a sip per pill. Lynn gently reminded me that "everything is about timing" and that I was drinking the water so fast that I'd be through with the water before I finished the pills and God knows what would happen if that occured.
I tried to sip, I really did make an effort and I swallowed my last of the first dozens pill with the last sip of water . No doubt that my sipping skills had improved thanks to Lynn's coaching. I had to wait an hour and then drink another 16 ounces of water followed by another 16 ounces an hour after that ingestion.
Because of the time of my procedure, I had to get up at 3A.M. and down my second dozen pills once again with 16 ounces of water in the clearly marked plastic cup that came along with the pills for fifty bucks.
I didn't even bother trying to go to sleep, I realized the purpose of the pills. I wondered when they would achieve their obective which they did with a flourish at 2:30 A.M. Now aware of what was supposed to happen , I sat down for my second dozen pills. I felt a little sick to my stomach but nothing as compared to what my sister-in-law experienced when she had choseh the pills over the formula. She got the extra bonus flourish of throwing up.
I had improved my sipping technique. My timing was perfect as it took me exactly the prescribed amount of time to finish the water and the pills. Actually, I finished two minutes earlier at 3:28. I was required to drink another 16 ounces at 4:30 and another at 5:30.
To stay awake, I was reading about former prizefighters who had never won chapionships. I read about, courage and the cost of courage until I dozed off for maybe five minutes. Then I was up again with another flourish. I remained awake for the duration with three or four flourishes in between.
Altogether a night to remember.
I climbed out of the shower 20 minutes ago. We got a call from the gastroentroligist office saying that there would be a 45 minute delay and we should arrive at 10:45 rather than 10. I haven't floursihed now in about an hour and I feel settled down so I think that they have this thing figured out so precisely that they know exactly how long it takes the pills and the water to combine and get their job done in order that when I'm sedated in my gown on my elbow on the table, I probably won't flourish.
I have an extra half hour so I figure I might as well start keeping track of this experience. I've been dreading this for years but my brother told me that the "twilight" sedation that they give you is worth the price of the pills and the IV.
Right now, I can't say.
I'll know more, a lot more, two hours from now when this whole episode will be something that I remember rather something that I dread.
