Who Discovered Whom?

37 years ago today, I made the greatest discovery of my life. I saw her across a crowded dance floor. I knew that I was gonna ask her to dance. She beat me to the punch. She walked up to me and asked me if I wanted to dance.
Who discovered whom?
It's the kind of thing that happens on enchanted evenings when everything changes and there's that feeling in the air.
Everbody deserves a moment like this.
I woke up.
I know I was awake because I can recall everything about that night, that moment. The first three songs will never be forgotten. The first one was Hurt So Good by John Mellencamp. I was familiar with the reality that love don't always feel the way it should and that hurt always lurks around the corner. I could tell that she's been hurt and I'm pretty sure she knew that I'd been hurt. The next song was Loving You by Elvis Presley. Elvis mentions how love blossoms not only in Summer, Fall and Springtime too but after the blossoms that love can last a whole life through, always faithful always true. We knew right away that we had found the one that we were looking for at the exact moment when we were'nt looking for anybody. Funny how that works.
The third song was "All in the Game" by Tonmmy Edwards. I got ahead of the lyrics a little bit. in my mind. I knew what was coming. I thought it would be wonderful if when Tommy sings "he kissed her lips" that I would kiss Lynn's lips which is exactly what I did. Estimated time lapsed between glance, dance, romance and forever.....10 minutes in real time.....an eternity in bliss time.
It felt like the first kiss of my lifetime.
It was the first kiss of OUR lifetimes.
We were pursuing each other.
We danced the rest of the evening. I remember exacly where we were on the dance floor. Later we would have our wedding reception at that original meeting place and we would dance our wedding dance in the space where we first kissed.
I had come alone but Lynn had arrived with a friend. We went back to our respective cars, still in a daze. We talked and kissed some more. I don't know if I asked her for herfphone number or she just gave it to me. Who discovered whom was still in play and still the question. She wondered if I would call. I knew that I would.
I did.
We stayed on the phone all night.
We've been together ever since.
The date was 7/11.
Today is 7/11, 37 years later.
Time is moving faster than ever.
I remember the night when it stopped completely.
seven and eleven are lucky numbers at the dice table.
We've been rolling the dice ever since.
We learned how to win and hurt good.
