Your Mind Never Sleeps

"I" fell asleep last night around midnight. I woke up around 8 this morning. When I refer to "I", I talk about the condition in which the mind and body are working in synch, with the mind creating and the body obeying to the best of its ability. The mind, however, never sleeps and it hasn't "slept" one moment since "I" or for that matter "you" have existed. The mind is ALWAYS working but during that time we call sleep, we only get intermittent reminders of that ongoing, creative work which we call "dreams". These "dreams" are the mind itself, free from the labor of directing the body and creating the blackboard on which life lessons are retroactively and proactively written, rewritten, analyzed and absorbed, yearned for and forgotten.
