A young boy named James once entered a grand singing contest, and having passed admirably through the preliminary stages with his golden voice of youth, found himself in the final round against a worthy advisory. A man always dressed in black and known only as ‘The Dark One’, had deep, soothing and mesmerising voice, with which he captured the crowd every time, and kept them eternally spellbound. The boy James started singing a song like golden light shining, of his forefathers and his clan, of valiant deeds won and lost. Of everlasting glory. The Dark One responded with a serene solemn dirge of warriors slain in vain in battle for old foolhardy kings above. About the vanity of it all. Of loss and no hope. The young man then sang a song of the golden love of youth, never to be broken, or flawed. To last through the ages for all time to come. Beyond death and old age. The Dark Lord replied with a song of sorrow, of love lost in youth, of all youthful tenderness hoped for in vain. He mocked the young man for is inexperience and foolishness, having won on the judges fair vote, and the cheers of the public. ‘Nothing is won if nothing is lost.’ He said to young James while laughing with pleasure and evil. But just then the young man started singing a tune of his own. He sang of his own spirit, and the freedom from all bondage, for all time to come. And he captured hearts and souls both near and afar with his golden message of love. The Dark One relished his great victory but in that same instant he had lost the whole battle. Now the young Prince of Song had found a voice of his own. And he glided forevermore on the wings of love and of hope, soaring above the clouds and the sun, in magical song.
