50 years to live

I have 50 years to live
A lifetime for some
For a fly many lifetimes
A short life for a yew tree.
My life will continue with trends
Mistakes
Successes
Failures
Luck
My life may be cut short
Or Extended
But for half a century
It will extrude
Then be extingushed
After my death
There will continue to be tears
Joy
Laughter
Broken promises
What legacy shall I leave behind
A bit of genetic material
That may or may not continue
Down the line for a while
Ever mutating
Shall it be a bunch of poems
A kind word or two
In a rapidly fading memory
A few lives saved here and there
Or a patent, or a work of art
Or Shall it be
Nothing much
Or nothing at all
Is it ok to have left nothing at all
Just to have lived for a bit?

Poem
It's an absolutely great poem.
